Curator's Choice Lecture Series: The Wild West of Buffalo Bill

Saturday, December 2, 2017

Don't miss the latest in our Curator's Choice Lecture Series: The American West in Fact and Fiction. In December the presentation will focus on "The Wild West of Buffalo Bill." William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody first garnered national attention with his exploits on the American frontier, but he will forever be associated with the Wild West show, an elaborate outdoor spectacle that traveled across the United States and Europe in the decades surrounding the turn of the twentieth century. While the shows were based on actual events, Cody’s Wild West presented a highly romanticized version of Western history that continues to influence our understanding of the region to this day. To truly understand the myth, we have to start with the man.
