Downtown Infrastructure and Place-Making Project Moving Forward!

City of Farmington Moves Forward with Main Street Complete Streets Project

During Tuesday's Farmington City Council meeting, the City Council voted to approve the 30% conceptual drawings for the Downtown Farmington - Main Street Complete Streets construction project; a large infrastructure and place-making economic development project.  The plans were presented by Art Garcia of Stantec, and Dennis Wilkinson of MRWM.  City of Farmington's Project Manager, Sherry Roach presented outdoor dining options to the council body and the attending public.

The proposed construction for the project is Main Street between Auburn and Miller, and will include a lane reduction from four lanes to two lanes and four roundabouts to slow traffic speeds and to increase pedestrian safety.  There will be wider sidewalks and better lighting to create an inviting space for shoppers and for stores and restaurants to expand with merchandise and seating.  The 30% conceptual drawings include examples of site furnishings and material finishes, but are for illustration purposes only.  All design element options are being explored at this time.

For more information, watch the recorded City Council meeting at or please stop by Complete Streets HQ at 119 W. Main to view the plans in person.  We want to hear your feedback!
