CONSTRUCTION NOTICE
DATE: December 13, 2019
RE: Downtown Farmington Revitalization – Complete Streets projectThe City of Farmington (“CITY”) is pleased to announce that we have contracted with AUI, Inc. (“CONTRACTOR”) via the public bid process to provide construction services for the Downtown Farmington Revitalization – Complete Streets project along Main Street between Auburn Avenue and S. Miller Street in downtown Farmington, New Mexico. This letter serves as your formal project notice.
This large enhancement project includes streetscape improvements, such as increased lighting for traffic and pedestrians, wider sidewalks, removing the signalized intersections and replacing with single-lane roundabouts, new landscaping materials and irrigation system, increased electrical supply to host large events and for seasonal lighting needs, an outdoor speaker system, free public Wi-Fi services, as well as a water line replacement and storm drain improvements.
Schedule:The CITY values downtown businesses and wishes to avoid impact during the highest revenue-producing months (November and December); therefore, it is the intention of the CITY to commence construction on January 6, 2020, and to be substantially complete on or before November 1, 2020. Substantial Completion for this project shall be defined as open fully without restriction to pedestrians and vehicular traffic.
Work Hours:All work is to be performed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Sunday – Saturday. However, evening and night work may be necessary. All work is weather dependent and subject to change. See notification procedure below for more information.
Pedestrian Access:Pedestrian access to building fronts
will be maintained throughout construction. When necessary to replace sidewalks, a minimal closure will be necessary and business owners and residents will be notified in advance. The CONTRACTOR is expected to provide temporary walkways across all unfinished surfaces.
Parking and Vehicular Access:All public parking lots and alleyways
will remain open during construction. Vehicular access between Broadway and Arrington Avenue will be provided for the duration of the project by way of Allen Avenue or Orchard Avenue as well. On-street parking near active work zones may not be available and BUSINESS OWNERS and PROPERTY OWNERS are encouraged to instruct EMPLOYEES and RESIDENTS to park away from active work zones, thereby leaving the closest parking spaces available for the public.
Notification Procedure:The CONTRACTOR will distribute door-hanger notifications to all residential and commercial customers potentially affected by any low water pressure or water outages at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance. However, for emergencies, notice will be provided as soon as is practical.
Public Communication:The CITY encourages the community to be informed and engaged with this enhancement project and others, so there are several ways by which the CITY communicates with the public.
