Street Closures in the Downtown Area: July - Sept 2019


Dear Downtown Business Owners:

By request here is a list of all known street closures through the end of September, especially important due to the frequency of events during this time of the year.  Please note that some of the specific road closure information has not been determined or approved, so future notifications may be forthcoming.  This information is subject to change. Events are subject to change due to inclement weather.

This list includes City events and non-City events, however other parade and event road closure requests may not have been submitted or approved as of the date of this notification.  The City will do our best to forward any street closure information as it is received.  


Rod Run: permit approved

Please be advised that Main Street from Locke to Commercial (updated) will be CLOSED Saturday, July 20th for the 2019 Rod Run event.

Beginning at 1pm, there will be a partial road closure on S. Behrend between Main St and the south alleyway to allow for the live music stage set up.  Beginning at 1pm, there will be a partial road closure on N. Behrend between Main St and the north alleyway to allow for vendor set up.  The road closure on Main Street between Locke and Commercial (updated) will be in place by 3pm.  Participating vehicles will be entering at N. Allen. 

Rod Run Event runs from 5pm-10pm (NEW TIME).  

Barricading will be in place as required by permit.  Motorists are advised to seek alternate route.  Employees are advised to park outside of the road closure or move vehicles prior to the road closure.

Connie Mack Parade: permit approved

Please be advised that Main Street from Airport Drive to Butler Avenue will be CLOSED Thursday, July 25th for the 2019 Connie Mack World Series Parade.

The road closure on Main Street will be in place by 8AM and removed shortly after parade ends.

The CMWS parade is from 10am to approximately 11am.  Please note, that there will be horses included in this parade this year.  All horses will be bagged and/or swept up after. 

Detours and barricading will be in place.   Motorists are advised to seek alternate route.  Employees are advised to park away from the event.

San Juan County Fair Parade: permit approved

Please be advised that Main Street from Butler Avenue to Lake Street will be CLOSED Friday, August 9th for the 2019 San Juan County Fair Parade.

The road closure on Main Street will be in place by 4:30PM and removed shortly after parade ends.

The SJC Fair parade is from 6pm to approximately 7:30pm.  Please note, that there will be horses included in this parade.  All horses will be bagged and/or swept up after. 

Detours and barricading will be in place.   Motorists are advised to seek alternate route.  Employees are advised to park away from the event.

Summer Bash: TBD

Please be advised that S. Behrend from Broadway to the alleyway AND the south Alleyway from S.  Behrend to the parking lot entrance will be CLOSED Friday, August the 16th and Saturday, August the 17th for the Summer Bash.

The road closure will be in place by TBD until TBD.  The Friday event is from 5pm to 10pm.  The Saturday event is from 10am to 10pm.

Detours and barricading will be in place.   Motorists are advised to seek alternate route.  Employees are advised to park away from the event.

Downtown Off-Road Takeover: TBD

Please be advised that Main Street from Locke Avenue to Wall Avenue AND Orchard from Main Street to the north alleyway will be CLOSED Friday, September 9th for the Downtown Off-Road Takeover.

The road closure on Main Street will be in place by 3:30PM until 10:30pm.

The event is from 5pm to 9pm.  Participating vehicles will be entering at TBD.  Please note that during the 4x4 Week (Wed-Sat) expect 4x4 off-road vehicles in the downtown area.

Detours and barricading will be in place.  Barricading will be in place as required by permit.  Motorists are advised to seek alternate route. Employees are advised to park away from the event.

Four Corners Film Festival: TBD

Please be advised that Main Street from Locke to Behrend will be CLOSED Saturday, September 14th for the Block Party for the Four Corners Film Festival.

The road closure on Main Street will be in place by TBD until TBD.  The event is from TBD to TBD.  Vehicles will be entering at TBD.

Please note that during the Four Corners Film Festival Week (Sept 10th-15th) expect an increase in vehicles and pedestrians in the downtown area.

Detours and barricading will be in place.   Motorists are advised to seek alternate route.  Employees are advised to park away from the event.

The purpose of this newsletter is to be transparent and open about our plans for this large-scale infrastructure investment with the downtown stakeholders.  We recognize the potential for economic growth that could result from a project of this magnitude, but also the challenges that come.  Additional details on any of the above referenced items are on file at HQ at 119 W.
