The Farmington Museum offers exhibits that are enjoyable for the whole family. Gateway Museum is a new facility. Included with this facility is the Barn & Orchards and the learning center located in Gateway Park. The Nature Center is located along the Animas River Trail System and is worth the walk.

Our 18 hole golf course is one of the top ten municipal golf courses in the US.

Every year Farmington hosts the Connie Mack World Series, with teams coming from all across the US and Puerto Rico. The series is the best of the 18 and younger ball players. Each August all seven regional champions merge on Farmington, New Mexico to compete for the elite title of "Connie Mack World Series Champion".

Sandstone Production's outdoor theater provide an entertaining evening under the stars. The outdoor performance runs from Spring through Summer. Visit the above page for more specific information on performance dates.

The Farmington Aquatics Center has indoor water recreation for the whole family, year round. Offering an Olympic size pool and a smaller fun pool with a large water slide. This is a good choice for fun.

The Animas River Walk is a beautiful place to walk, bike or just do nothing, any time of the year. Check it out!

Also within the area are various Anasazi Ruins. Mesa Verde National Monument offers a glimpse into the "cliff dwelling" era of the Anasazi. Perched on high cliffs, the ruins gives you a feeling of insecurity as you look over the edge. Closer to Farmington you will find Aztec Ruins National Monument. These ruins are considered the "religious center" of the Anasazi by many researchers. The "Great Kiva" that is fully restored is an amazing site. There are several of these "great Kivas" still unearthed, which is why researchers believe this was the religious center of the Anasazi culture. Salmon Ruins is another ancient town to visit and located a close 8 miles from Farmington. Chaco Canyon was one of the largest settlements during the Anasazi times. Located 75 miles from Farmington, which makes Farmington one of the closest points to start from.

Fishing is available at many different points within the area. Jackson and Farmington Lake are just minutes from Farmington. Morgan Lake offers boating, fishing and water sports. Navajo Lake State Park is located north east of Farmington and is a great place for boating, fishing (trout, bass, blue gill, crappie, salmon and northern pike), water sports and camping. Navajo Lake Marina also has boat rental. Probably the most well known fishing spot in the area is the San Juan River's "quality waters". World renown for the size of fish that dwell in this river, it has become a hot spot for fishermen. The first mile below Navajo Dam is catch and release only and the following five miles is one fish only, and it must be 20 inches or longer in length. Only barbless hooks can be used in the quality waters and no bait fishing is allowed. Below the five miles, you can use bait and barbed hooks. Camping is allowed in designated areas along the river. This is controlled by the New Mexico State Parks Division. There are several guide services that offers fishing trips on the San Juan River. ( Four Corners Guide Service, Rainbow lodge Guide Service, Resolution Guide Service, Arcom Outfitting and Guide Service; to list the ones known with Internet sites) Information on New Mexico State Parks can be found at their website. Here you will find user fees associated with the New Mexico State Parks System.

Off Road Recreation is big in Farmington. Chokecherry Canyon (or the "Glade" as locals refer to it) has many off-road trail systems. The Bureau of Land Management maintains many hiking and biking trails in the "Glade". The local 4x4 groups, (Cliffhangers and Rock Garden 4x4 club) have developed numerous 4x4 trails in the area. These trails are beginner to expert. Chokecherry Canyon is well known among the 4x4 enthusiasts as well as the relatively new Rock Garden.

SunRay Casino is located 10 minutes from downtown Farmington. It offers slot machines and simulcast horse racing. Located on the grounds of the casino is "Legends" sports bar and grill. There are two other casinos located in southern Colorado, which is not too far to drive. Sky Ute Casino and Ute Mountain Casino. Ute Mountain Casino is close to Cortez, Colorado and Sky Ute Casino is located in Ignacio, Colorado.
