    Teens 13 to 17 years old, join us for live Atomic Teen Science Cafes. Cafes provide teens interested in current science the opportunity to interact with scientists in a fun and informal setting. Come for amazing science, food (dinner is provided), and fun! If you need a ride from the southwest side of town, a shuttle will take you from Sycamore Park Community Center to the Farmington Museum!   5. Curator's Choice Lecture Series: Remember the Alamo!

    Come down to the Farmington Museum to learn about the history of America’s Wild West from the curator, Jeffrey Richardson in the latest installments of the Curator’s Choice Lecture Series. In February see the presentation, "Remember the Alamo!" The Alamo was originally established as a Catholic mission in the eighteenth century. It was eventually converted into a military compound, and in 1836, the Mexican army slaughtered its Texan defenders during a key battle of the Texas Revolution. "Remember the Alamo!" became a rallying cry as the Republic of Texas successfully fought for its independence.

  7. Moonlight Walk

    The park trails are beautiful by moonlight, with glimpses of animals, and maybe even the call of an owl. Snow makes it even prettier. Dress for the weather on this leisurely walk of about two miles as we look and listen. Children should be old enough to understand walking quietly. No pets please. Bring a flashlight, but we will hope that the moon will light our way.

  10. Native New Mexican Cuisine Cooking Class

    February 23, 2019, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Farmington Museum

    Join the Farmington Museum and Farmington Indian Center for some authentic Dine' cooking at the Farmington Museum. This class will teach people some popular Navajo recipes and the history behind them. Through hands-on activities and demonstrations, participants will learn the process for making blue corn mush, fry bread, steamed corn stew with mutton, and red sumac pudding. The class will end with lunch! Registration is limited to 15.

    Knot tying is an old-fashioned skill which still come in handy and is fun to learn. Make your own sample of rope using an ancient hand method, try the pioneer rope-making machine, tie some useful knots, and learn rope tricks at Riverside Nature Center. Come to learn, or share your own favorite skills with knots. Children should be able to tie a bow or shoestrings before coming to this workshop.

    What are your favorite pictures taken in Animas and Berg Park? Choose up to five of your best pictures of scenery, people, wildlife, and activities in the Farmington river parks to print and mont for our annual photo show in March. All pictures must be taken in Animas or Berg Park in Farmington. Photographers must have permission from any people in their photos. Photographers of all ages are invited to take part in this show.
