Established in 1981, the Road Apple Rally - a.k.a. the longest continually run mountain bike race in America - is celebrating its 40th year.
In 1981 mountain bikes hadn't even been invented yet, but we were pioneering the sport here in Farmington, New Mexico.
Forty years later we may not have flying cars, but we do have mountain bikes and the ability to hold a "virtual" race so we can all race safely in the midst of the global pandemic.
Here's how the Road Apple Rally will work this year:
Register online by October 17 at noon or by mail by October 2, 2020.
Registration is $25.00 and includes a 40th-anniversary t-shirt.
Using either Strava or the MTB Project app on a smartphone or fitness device record yourself riding the actual Road Apple Rally track sometime between October 3 and October 17, 2020. Then take a screenshot of your results and submit them by October 18, 2020.
Do a happy dance because you just competed in this historic race.
