The City Clerk's office is oriented toward public service and public relation functions, many of which are governed by State law. The City Clerk, with the assistance of three staff members, prepares agendas and minutes for all City Council meetings; conducts municipal elections; serves as the offical custodian of City records and directs record retention, microfilming, and archival and destruction; directs issuance of business registrations and licenses; administers the City liquor license process and issues applications for special liquor dispenser permits; prepares transcripts of bond issues and assessment districts; assists in processing oil and gas well permits; directs publication of legal notices; processes applications to inspect public records; and provides staff services and support for the Mayor, City Council and City Manager. Staff of this office takes pride in their ability to efficiently assist and direct the public beyond the scope of City-related inquiries.
