R-4 Office and Professional Zone Change Background Information

On May 22, 2007 , the City Council approved Ordinance No. 2007-1184, which repealed Chapter 27, Zoning, and Appendix A, Land Subdivision Regulations,of the Farmington City Code and adopted the “Unified Development Code” (UDC).

As part of the Code change, the existing R-4 Office and Professional District (R-4 District) is being eliminated. Pursuant to Ordinance No. 2007-1184, all properties zoned in the current R-4 District must be rezoned to one of the following base zoning districts found in the UDC: : Multi-Family High Density (MF-H); Office and Professional (OP); or Mixed Use (MU).

As a result, the City has initiated the process to rezone all twenty-six R-4 Districts throughout Farmington . The newly proposed zoning designations are based principally upon the present land uses found in each R-4 District.
