Key Issues Regarding New Mexico's
Proposed Cap and Trade System
The New Mexico Environmental Improvement Board will be hearing petitions from the New Energy Economy and from the New Mexico Environment Department. These Petitions will have devastating consequences to the city, county, oil and gas industry, electric utility and its customers, should New Mexico Environment Department's Cap and Trade program be implemented with the proposed regulations which will be decided by the seven person Environmental Improvement Board without input from the New Mexico Legislature.
This process is detrimental to New Mexico and should go through the legislative process, whereby the public can participate through its elected representatives rather than the seven individuals making such an important decision. You can help by ensuring that the information is communicated to everyone and they participate willingly.
