Training Division

The Training Division is responsible for depart­ment recruiting and hiring, background investigations, maintaining the Field Training Program, coordi­nating in-service and acad­emy training, and meeting the logistical needs of the Farmington Police Depart­ment by overseeing the acquisition and distribution of needed uniforms, equipment and work related supplies. Other duties assigned to the division include conduct­ing pre and post-academy training for new recruits and facilitating the new hire process. In-service training is also coordinated through the training divi­sion as well as the success­ful “Shooter Improvement” training.

The Training Division continues to coordinate and carry out the Citizen’s Police Academy. The Training Division coordinates the utilization of the Safety City facil­ity. Safety City is used for a variety of training purposes, including pursuit driving, firearms training, Critical Incident Manage­ment, defensive tactics, new hire testing and com­munity-wide events such as Family Day and First Grade Safety City Program.
