BENEFITS OFFERED
- Twenty year retirement. Officers retire at 70% of their high three-year average at any age after 20 years; 80% at 22 years and 10 months.
- Uniforms and equipment furnished by the City.
- Educational incentive - officers who have earned college credits receive additional monthly pay of $1.67 per credit up to 75 credits, $125.00/mo for a two year degree, $167.00/mo for a four year degree and $209/mo. for a master's degree.
- Take home vehicles to residences within 15 miles of the City.
Work Schedule - four 10 hour days, three days off.
- Retirement: Public Employment Retirement Association - PERA member's contribution - 16.3%; City's contribution - 18.5%.
- Health insurance - Medical, Self Funded, City pays 73%, employees pay 27% over 26 biweekly pay periods (family coverage available). Includes dental and vision.
- Life insurance - City provides policy which pays amount of annual salary rounded up to the closest $5,000 to the surviving beneficiary. Up to $45,000 Supplemental Life Insurance available.
- Continuing education - tuition assistance may be provided by the city with reimbursement paid according to final grade received.
- Vacation leave - 160 hours per year to start.
- Sick leave - 96 hours per year.
- Overtime - paid at time and one-half after 40 hours.
- Deferred compensation payroll deduction available.
- Additional pay stipends are offered to Detectives, Special Response Team members, and Field Training Officers.
- A 24 hour Weight Room.
