Records and  Evidence

The Records Division is the central repository for all police generated reports. The Records and Evidence Divisions are located within the police station at 900 Municipal Drive, Farmington, NM. Citizens can review the Daily Log, request offense and accident reports, in-car camera recordings, photographs, criminal background checks, obtain fingerprinting service, alarm permits, and property and evidence at the Records Counter. Upon entering through the double glass doors, the Records Division counter is immediately to your left. Records Personnel can facilitate your right to inspect public records Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed on major holidays and weekends) or by calling 505-599-1053.   • Offense Reports and Background Checks:
    Complete the Request to Inspect Public Records Form. The fee for Offense reports is .50 per page. There is no charge if you are named in the report. Background checks, which only include arrests made by Farmington Police for the past five years, are $5.00.  
  • Accident Reports:
    Copies of accident reports are $2.00, no fee for requests made by drivers listed in the accident report.  Call Records to confirm the accident report has been completed and turned into the Records Division. A copy may be picked up at the Records counter, faxed or emailed.
  • DVD In-Car Camera Recordings:
    You must complete a FPD DVD Request Form. A search for the film footage will be conducted by the Information Technology Division. There is a $7.00 fee per DVD. Allow for 14 business days from date of request.
  • Photographs:
    Complete Photograph Print Request Form, specifying what size prints you are requesting. Fees are dependent on print size and quantity. The request will be forwarded to the Department’s Crime Lab for research and processing. You will be notified when prints are available. Allow for 3-7 days for processing.
  • Fingerprint Service:
    This service is offered Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. You must provide your fingerprint cards, $5.00 for the first two, $5.00 for each card thereafter and have valid state issued I.D. card.
  • Alarm Permits:
    You must complete an Alarm User Permit Form.  Contact Records and request to be transferred to the TAC Operator in regards to submitting the alarm permit. This is required if you contract with an alarm company for locations within the Farmington city limits.
  • Property & Evidence:
    Property and evidence is maintained within the Records Division. Claim letters/vouchers for property that has been authorized for release are mailed to owners. Present the letter/voucher at the Records counter between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to claim property. All other inquiries for property can be directed to the Evidence Technician by contacting Records. Property that has been authorized for public auction is forwarded to the City of Farmington’s Municipal Operation Center.
