Community Development Block Grant

Federal Grant Funding
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Division of the Community Development Department administers the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s CDBG Program that provides for approximately $350,000 of federal grant funding in the community annually to address the needs of low or moderate income families and individuals.

The City of Farmington receives Community Development Block Grant Entitlement funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). CDBG funds are used for a variety of public services and capital projects to benefit targeted neighborhoods and low- and moderate-income families. Each year two important public documents are created, the Annual Action Plan that allocates funds to individual projects, and the Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation that documents how the funds have been expended. CDBG staff manages the projects, monitors their performance, and reports their accomplishments to HUD.

2014-2018 Consolidated Plan and 2014 Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI) Available for Public Comment

The 2014-2018 Consolidated Plan identifies the priorities and objectives that guide how the City's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds will be allocated over the next five years.  It also includes the 2014 Annual Action Plan, which outlines the proposed projects to be funded in the 2014 program year.  The 2014-2018 Consolidated Plan is available for public comment through August 12, 2014.  Staff encourages the public to review the document, which is available below.

The AI includes a review of laws, regulations, and administrative policies, procedures and practices; an assessment of how those law, policies and practices affect the location availability and accessibility of housing; and, an assessment of public and private sector conditions affecting fair housing choice.

Hard copies of both draft reports are available for review in Farmington at the City Clerk's Office at 800 Municipal Drive, at the Community Development Department front desk on the second floor of 805 Municipal Drive, and at the Farmington Public Library at 2101 Farmington Avenue.
