Operations of the Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is considered the “backbone” of any law enforcement agency; the Farmington Police Department is no different.

The Patrol Division operates three shifts, which serve seven days a week, 365 days a year. The Patrol Division is the primary responder to all calls for service and it is our goal to provide the most prompt and professional response possible.

Community Interaction

Patrol Officers handle a variety of calls ranging from reports of minor vandalism to homicide investigations. The Patrol Division works in conjunction with community service officers, police assistants, district coordinators, bicycle officers, gang unit, volunteer observation patrols, traffic officers, DWI officers and the K-9 unit. These dedicated individuals provided quality law enforcement services to our community.

Public opinion of the police department is often solely based on the contacts between officers of the patrol division and the community. All new officers begin their careers in the patrol division, where the emphasis is placed on the need for officers to maintain a high level of trust, integrity, fairness, and hard work. The merits that patrol officers gain in this division drive them throughout their careers.
