Functions

The City Clerk's office is oriented toward public service and public relation functions, many of which are governed by state law. The city clerk, with the assistance of two staff members:
  • Prepare agendas and minutes for city council meetings
  • Provides staff services and support for the mayor, city council and city manager
  • Processes applications to inspect public records
  • Serves as the official custodian of city records and directs record retention, microfilming, and archival and destruction
  • Conducts municipal elections
  • Directs issuance of business registrations and licenses
  • Administers the city liquor license process and issues applications for special liquor dispenser permits
  • Prepares transcripts of bond issues and assessment districts
  • Assists in processing oil and gas well permits
  • Directs publication of legal notices
This office takes pride in its ability to effectively assist and direct the public beyond the scope of city-related inquiries.
