Region II Narcotics Task Force

Region II.png
The Region II Narcotics Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional / multi-agency entity, established through its coordinating council to reduce narcotics use, sales, and trafficking within San Juan County. The task force attacks drug dealing at all levels: street, mid, and upper-level traffickers, as well as organized trafficking conspiracies. These alliances are best dealt with via the multi-jurisdictional concept, as they span city, county, and tribal land boundaries within the State of New Mexico. This coordinated effort provides a means for pooling equipment, expertise and manpower within the region.
In July of 1999, San Juan County was designated as a high intensity drug trafficking area (HIDTA). The additional funding and manpower provided by this program allows for increased interdiction and investigative efforts in San Juan County by members of the task force. The additional resources will allow for a more concerted effort by the task force in the area of disrupting organized methamphetamine distribution operations. The task force continues to maintain a strong working relationship with local, state, and federal agencies.

Region II is committed to the apprehension and conviction of drug traffickers, drug trafficking organizations, and gang members in San Juan County. Region II is also responsible for training and teaching patrol personnel current drug trends, teaching at the police academy, and teaching drug awareness classes to civic groups.
