Aztec Ruins National Monument 725 Ruins Road Aztec, NM 87410 (505) 334-6174 | Aztec Ruins National Monument is a National Park Service site that protects some of the best-preserved monumental great house architecture in the Southwest. Visitors are able to walk through the Aztec West Great House and its reconstructed Great Kiva. The visitor center is located in the house of the archaeologist that excavated the site and offers visitors a glimpse of some of the artifacts that were found on site. In addition to being open for self-guided tours, Aztec Ruins also offers many special events and ranger-led programming during the summer season. | Aztec Ruins has many divisions that could use the help of volunteers. At the visitor center, volunteers help at the front desk, answering questions and talking to visitors. These volunteers may also walk on the trails to answer questions or give short programs. Other divisions may also need volunteers for some projects. Natural resources, cultural resources, and maintenance may have projects available at different times of the year. We also have a number of special events that we could use help with.

| For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
The Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power of promise of youth.
The Big Brothers Big Sister’s Vision is that all youth achieve their full potential. | We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in mentoring a child one-on-one. A mentor is defined as a “wise advisor.” In Big Brothers Big Sisters terms, a mentor is an adult who is there to spend time with a younger person to support their development, provide friendship and guidance, and offer a different perspective on the world. Basically, mentoring is an additional grown-up to be there for a child. Depending on the program that is right for you, mentors spend time with mentees doing anything related to recreation, education, or social and life skills. Mentoring can take place out in the community or at the student’s school for about 4-8 hours per month with a year commitment.

The central goal driving our organizational endeavors is to equip as many nonprofit and public leaders as humanly possible with no less than 100% of the resources needed to achieve these outcomes. These include financial resources, research and evaluation resources, information and training resources, leadership building resources, and much more. | Lou Go’s transportation provides FREE to LOW COST rides for seniors and people with disabilities in San Juan County. This is not just a transportation service for doctor’s appointments or strictly medical. This service is allowing the community access to travel for any type of commute. From hair appointments to a bingo game at a local senior center.
We believe in getting our elders and people with disabilities back into the community and providing that social interaction that is much needed. Lou Go’s started this program thru a grant from the NADTC agency back in 2018. The grant ended in October 2019 and we have been volunteer based since then. Volunteers use our vehicles to provide rides to our community members twice a week from 8am to 6pm. The qualifying factors include having a Driver’s License and no more than 2 infractions on your driving record in the past 2 years. We have (2) 4 hour blocks that we need filled twice a week. Our goal would be to add more days as we get more volunteer drivers.

Utilizing cutting edge techniques and equipment, we answer over 7,000 calls for service annually. Our 200 volunteers respond out of 23 stations divided into 10 districts around the county. We operate over 100 pieces of apparatus and provide all the training necessary to be a valued member of our team, at no cost to volunteer. | We are currently looking for volunteers to fill a variety of positions. Some examples are: interior firefighter, wildland firefighter, EMS responder, and administrative support members. There is something for everyone to do in the fire department.

They listen to and investigate complaints from residents, their family and caregivers, and staff at the facility.
