Time for a Complete Streets project update!
Phase 1 of the construction in downtown Farmington is on schedule and moving right along. If you haven't seen the weekly project summaries on our website at
heartoffarmington.org, please be sure to check them out. The summaries include details about completed work, such as upgrades to the waterline and storm drain system, electrical and lighting improvements and the installation of new, wider sidewalks. The sidewalks will enhance pedestrians' experience as they stroll through downtown Farmington and will create opportunities for businesses to offer outdoor seating and dining. Also available in the summaries are weekly goals so citizens can see what workers are focusing on for a seven-day time frame.
As Phase 1 is transitioning to its final stages for substantial completion by the end of June, we have the opportunity to move up the timeline for beginning Phase 2 with an anticipated start date in mid-June. We will announce a firm start date as construction continues. The preparation stage for Phase 2 began on June 1 with saw cutting and removal of benches, trash bins and other items. Asphalt removal will take place on June 8.
Remember, all public parking lots and alleyways are open and accessible. Pedestrian access to all buildings will be maintained.
