Make Recycling One of Your New Year’s Resolutions

Posted on January 13, 2021 at 3:53 PM by Georgette Allen

Recyle Goal 2021
This New Year, make the resolution to support US manufacturers by recycling all your cardboard, paper, bottles and cans. When you recycle a cardboard box, you provide vital resources used to make new materials like cereal boxes, paper towels, tissues and writing paper. An old box could also make more corrugated cardboard. Recycling helps power manufacturing.

It matters when you choose to recycle. Recycling plays an important part in the US economy.
The EPA’s Recycling Economic Information report says that in 2012, recycling and reuse
activities in the United States accounted for 681,000 jobs, $37.8 billion in wages and $5.5
billion in tax revenues. That’s no small thing.

Of course, another reason to recycle is to leave the planet a better place for the next generation.
When we use recycled resources, we save energy and water in manufacturing and keep our air
and earth cleaner.

Make Recycling Easy

If you’re not sure where to start, choose to recycle only one of the five following items in a bin at
home.

1. Aluminum cans
2. Steel cans
3. Plastic bottles and jugs
4. Paper
5. Cardboard

By simplifying what goes into your cart, you make recycling easier on yourself. We know that
when we take our goals in simple steps, we make them easier to achieve. When you’re ready,
keep adding new items into your recycling bin from the list above.

If you’re ready to start recycling today but don’t have a recycling cart, you can call Waste
Management for a recycling bin. Recycling is already included in your waste services bill.
