[ARCHIVED] NEWS RELEASE:City of Farmington human resources director recognized as 2019 Professional of the Year

Farmington, NM – The Society for Human Resources Management recently named Tom Swenk as HR Professional of the Year. Swenk has served as the human resources director for the City of Farmington for the past seven years. During this time he has brought in new trainings, restructured the City’s pay plan and implemented national program, “Project Search.” The program is the first of its kind in the nation implemented by a municipality.

City Manager Rob Mayes congratulated Swenk on his recognition, “The City of Farmington is incredibly proud of Mr. Swenk’s and congratulate him on this recent accomplishment. He is a dedicated, people-focused leader who works diligently to strike a balance between the needs of the organization with the needs of the employees. We are fortunate to have Mr. Swenk as a member of our team.”

The SHRM recognizes HR professionals annually who elevate the profession, serve as role models for their peers and set the standard for others in the profession.

Swenk will also be recognized locally during the Farmington city council meeting on April 9 at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at city hall located at 800 Municipal Drive.
