City of Farmington utilities suspending disconnection for non-payment, waiving fees

FARMINGTON, N.M. – To support its customers who may be experiencing financial hardship due to the current coronavirus situation, the City of Farmington and Farmington Electric Utility System will temporarily suspend electric and water disconnection for non-payment starting today (3/17/20) until further notice. Individuals recently disconnected for non-payment will be reconnected if requested (for example if someone sold their home, they would not need their service reconnected) with no fees. City electric and water utility departments will also waive all late and tag fees during this time. Additionally, collection and credit reporting will be suspended.

The City emphasized this is being done on an emergency basis to assist individuals experiencing financial hardship due to the current coronavirus situation. Those customers experiencing challenges during this time are asked to call customer service at 505-599-1353 to discuss payment options related to their account. The utility will work with them on a payment plan to lessen the burden to its customers.

As part of the commitment to keeping customers and workers safe, FEUS is closing the Annex Customer Service Center at 850 Municipal Drive until further notice. The Municipal Operations Customer Service Center located at 101 N. Browning Pkwy. will remain open. Anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms or having traveled to high risk areas is asked to use alternative methods of payment:

  • Night drop box located at 101 N. Browning Parkway
  • Electronic credit/ debit card payments on our Interactive Voice Response system (payments over the phone) – 505-599-1353 option 1
  • Mail payments to P.O. Box 712569, Denver, CO, 80271, or 101 N Browning Parkway, Farmington, NM, 87401
  • Online credit/debit card payments at www.fmtn.org
