What can a penny fund? It can fund the 9-1-1 dispatch center and emergency services in our community. The Nov. 2 general election ballot includes a referendum for a 1/16th of 1 percent increase in gross receipts tax. This increase equates to about one penny for every $20 spent on taxable items in San Juan County, which will help pay for your 911 dispatch center and emergency services.
